Call for abstracts: No living without the ocean: Social-ecological systems in the marine realm
Youmares session on Social-ecological Systems (SES)
Registry for Youmares, the conference for young marine researchers, is now open! Several exciting fisheries related sessions are accepting abstracts until the 15th of June. Youmares is taking place in Bremen, Germany, from the 16th to the 18th of September 2015.
Take your chance and apply for the exciting FINET session entitled: No living without the ocean: Social-ecological systems in the marine realm
Marine coastal ecosystems play a vital role for the livelihood and wellbeing of more than one billion people all over the world. However, multiple drivers such as overfishing, pollution, coastal development and climate change threaten the functionality of coastal ecosystems and reduce ecosystem services (fishing, aquaculture, tourism, protection against erosion). To protect marine ecosystems, solutions are needed that are both ecologically and socially sustainable. This session invites young researchers to share their work illuminating the social-ecological linkages in coastal areas and the dependence of humanity on coastal marine resources and ecosystems. We particularly encourage contributions with interdisciplinary topics and methods including modelling approaches, ecosystem service evaluation, and social network analysis.
Register now and meet the Finet team in Bremen!
